Rivian Names Javier Varela as New COO
Rivian Automotive Inc. hired Javier Varela as its new chief operations officer to help the electric-vehicle maker scale output as it prepares to roll out a lower-cost model geared for the mass market. Varela, the former COO and deputy chief executive officer of Volvo Cars.
AF Group Names Kriss Barronton as New COO
AF Group, a Ward’s 50 company for the past five years and noted for the specialty insurance solutions offered through its affiliate brands across the country, has appointed Kriss Barronton as chief operating officer. In her capacity as COO, Barronton will oversee several critical departments including business transformation, loss control, premium audit, service center, and corporate underwriting.
Batteries Plus Names Jon Sica as New COO
The consumer and business specialty battery chain has announced that Jon Sica will now serve as chief operating officer. Sica joined Batteries Plus in 2019 as chief strategy officer, where he helped lead the chain’s expansion, before becoming chief business officer in 2021. In his new role, Sica will oversee key areas of the business, including commercial sales and retail operations support.
Mocingbird Names Sarah Bishop as New COO
Mocingbird, has announced Sarah Bishop as its new chief operating officer Bishop, who is certified in medical credentialing and executive leadership, first joined Mocingbird in January 2023 as senior director of operations and then vice president of operations. During that time, she built the company’s licensing team from scratch.
Nexstar Names Mike Biard as New COO
Mike Biard, a 23-year veteran of Fox Corp., has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Nexstar, the No. 1 owner of local TV stations in the U.S. and the parent of The CW and NewsNation. He will report to CEO Perry Sook, with current COO Tom Carter staying on as an advisor to the company through the end of the year.
WSFS Names Arthur Bacci as New COO
Arthur J. Bacci will transition to the role of Executive Vice President and COO. Bacci, who has been with WSFS since April 2018, previously held the position of Chief Wealth Officer and has been serving as interim CFO since August 2023. As COO, Bacci will oversee the Commercial, Wealth, Consumer, and Cash Connect lines of business, along with Technology, Operations, Customer Experience, Marketing, and Communications.
