In January 2024, many corporations hired new Chief Operating Officers (COOs) to focus on growth and success in their company. Today, we will focus on 13 COOs that accepted new positions to start their new year off.

Samsung Names Victor Gomez as New COOVictor Gomez

Victor Gomez is the new senior vice president and chief operating officer at Samsung HVAC America. Gomez brings extensive experience from prior senior executive roles in sales, supply-chain management, and business strategy and contributes a wealth of expertise to strategically position Samsung for ongoing growth and success in the North American market.

Target Names Michael Fiddelke as New COO

Michael Fiddelke

Michael Fiddelke will fill the role as COO, as his predecessor John Mulligan retires. Fiddelke has served as chief financial officer at Target since 2019. He will take over the chief operating officer duties as of Feb. 4. He will also be responsible for his current duties until a replacement can be named.

JetBlue Names Warren Christie as New COO

JetBlue Airways announced the promotion of Warren Christie to chief operating officer effective February 12, 2024, concurrent with the previously announced transition of current president and chief operating officer Joanna Geraghty to the role of chief executive officer. Christie will report to Geraghty.

KFC Names Thuthuka Nxumalo as New COO

Kentucky Fried Chicken, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, recently announced that Thuthuka Nxumalo was appointed as its chief operations officer for KFC US, assuming the role on Feb. 5. Before taking this position, Nxumalo served as COO for three years at KFC Africa. Prior to joining KFC, he worked with Anheuser-Busch InBev for nearly four years as brewery operations director for South Africa. He also spent more than 15 years with SABMiller and South African Breweries in various roles.

NBA 2K League Names Jeremy Haber as New COO

The NBA 2K League has announced that it has brought on former White Sox assistant GM Jeremy Haber as the league’s first COO. Haber, who will start in February, is looking to further the league’s long-term growth strategy and will be tasked with expanding the league’s collaborative efforts with the NBA. He will oversee the daily operations while handling leaguewide business functions such as league operations, financial performance management, partnerships, etc. Haber was hired without the use of any search firms.

Oberon Fuels Names Derek Winkel as New COO

Oberon Fuels, a renewable fuels producer, welcomed COO, Derek Winkel. Winkel will play critical roles in growing the business as it scales up the commercialization of its renewable DME and methanol, according to the company.

Sky Harbour Names Loren Benedict as New COO

Outgoing COO, Alex Saltzman, has entered an amicable separation agreement and will assist with transfer of responsibilities in good order. Loren Benedict has joined Sky Harbour subsidiary, RapidBuilt, as chief of operations. Mr. Benedict brings decades of manufacturing, construction and leadership experience in the pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) space, including at Lefever Building Systems and DCB Construction. He is a US Army veteran with multiple combat and humanitarian deployments.

NextGen Names Srinivas Velamoor as New COO

Srinivas Velamoor

Velamoor, who joined NextGen in 2021, will immediately take the reins as president and COO. He previously worked at McKinsey & Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Diamond Management & Technology Consultants.

Stellantis Names Carlos Zarlenga as New North America COO

Carlos Zarlenga

Stellantis has appointed Carlos Zarlenga as its chief operating officer for North America, replacing Mark Stewart, to leverage “further improvements” in its performance in the region.

Relation Insurance Names Kevin Rabinowitz as New COO

Relation Insurance Services, an insurance brokerage firm, has promoted Kevin Rabinowitz, the current Chief Broking Officer to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Rabinowitz joined Relation in January 2022 as the company’s Chief Broking Officer. He will continue reporting to Relation’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Hall, who was appointed to the role in June 2023.

CitiusTech Names Sudhir Kesavan as New COO

Nine months after naming a new CEO, Princeton-based CitiusTech added another executive to its leadership team. The health care technology company appointed Sudhir Kesavan as chief operating officer, effective immediately. As COO, Kesavan is responsible for leading the company’s global delivery organization, including enhancing practice capability, service delivery maturity and market innovation.

Amyx Names Rick Schult as New COO

Rick Schult

Amyx has appointed Rick Schult as its new chief operating officer. Schult will manage more than 600 employees. He succeeds John Selman, who served as COO since 2021. Amyx announced Selman’s retirement.
